12/10/2008 @ 7:00 AM in Bedford County Tennessee

We were looking for rain and we found 2.74″ in the CoCoRaHs Rain Gauge this morning. The rain here in Hickory Hill started about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon and so far has not completely stopped. We started to hear rumbles of thunder at 9:00 last night and at bedtime it was thunder and lightning and windy and raining steady. I don’t know when it settled down but this morning it is still sprinkling. Temperature is still in the 40’s but headed down today and precipitation chances will remain for at least the next 24 hours. The Police and Public Service Radio’s are reporting a lot of flooded out roads and in places a few trees are down on the roads in Bedford County, however there was no Skywarn or Spotter Activations. The maximum wind gust here yesterday was 24 mph and we hit that mark several times, I’m sure some people had some gust into the 30’s. Now lets record a few facts.

The temperature is 49 deg. and it is not going to be any warmer than that today. The temperature is heading down to the 30’s by this afternoon. With some chances of precipitation still around we could see some flurries tonight.

Barometric Pressure is 29.85″ and Steady now but that’s up from the 29.75″ I saw last night. Pressure will likely hold below 30″ during this period of unsettled weather.

Humidity is 97% and will remain high today with all of the rain and wet ground. Dew points were in the mid 50’s yesterday just prior to the rain starting.

Wind is NW @ 9 mph this morning with some gust to 12 or so. North wind and colder temps and a lot of moisture around will all make for a uncomfortable day today.

Sky is overcast (Stratus) and the Airport at Shelbyville reports ceiling down to 400 feet. So no VFR pilots are going anywhere today.

Forecast for today is Colder and a few sprinkles today. Cloudy as well with Northerly wind. Chances for more light rain or flurries this evening. No accumulations with ground temps well above freezing. Try to have a good day it’s Mid-Week and I’m told the weekend weather looks “good”. But it’s December in Tennessee so be on the lookout for anything.
