2/3/2009 @ 7:00AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

It’s 22 degrees this morning going up to the upper 30’s, our High will post in the early afternoon hours before our latest Cold Front comes through and the temperature plummets. There are snow showers scattered around the mid state but very little if any snow is making it to the ground. Humidity at the surface is 68% and likely lower in the upper atmosphere. Wind will shift from our current South east to the North with the passing of this front and wind speeds of 25 to even 30 mph are forecast. The wind chill factor this afternoon after the front passes could be 15 degrees or less. The sky will clear up this evening and our low goes down to 15 degrees. Wednesday looks like sunny and we struggle up to a high of 34 degrees. The rest of the week is looking dry and warmer. We might see 60 degrees by Saturday if nothing sneaks in to change things. It’s getting to that time of the year when I start looking forward to Spring and the days are getting noticeably longer. Sunset is 5:16 PM today and we are 45 days from the official first day of Spring. Today is also officially mid Winter. My personal observation has been that Winter so far has been wetter than what we have had for the last 2 years but not wetter than what is historically deemed average for Middle Tennessee. The temperatures have been average for our winter season. We have had several spells of really cold weather but we have also had a number of 60 plus days as well so it all averages out in the long run.. Now for the facts.

Temperature is 22 degrees this morning and headed up to the 30’s before the bottom drops out this afternoon and we go down to 15 over night.

Barometer is 30.05 and falling in advance of a cold front. Pressure should rebound after the front passes and we look to enjoy higher pressure for the rest of the week.

Humidity is 68% which is low for this time of day. This front passing through is mostly dry and we stay dry until at least late Sunday.

Wind is SE at 2 mph but shifting to the North and strong gusty conditions behind the front.

Sky is Mostly Cloudy this morning but will Clear out tonight and we look for Sunny conditions through Saturday.

The summary for today is fairly simple, just like I like it. Cloudy and cool this morning, clearing and Gusty North wind this afternoon. Fair over night and Sunny on Wednesday. High today 39 and quickly dropping. Low of 15 tonight. High of 34 on Wednesday. Have a good day we will try again tomorrow.
