3/30/2009 @ 7 AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Peaceful Sunny Spring morning but it’s really damp and mucky outside this morning. We had a round of rough weather Saturday evening with a brief bit of pea size hail here and .27″ of rain. We also had a few claps of Thunder but nothing to get excited about. Some folks in the Bedford County area had more hail and a lot more rain so I guess we got lucky. I have not heard reports from the other Counties but their were a few pockets of more intense weather and wind. As soon as this all passed through and it passed through quick we felt a hefty dose of much cooler air and had a Cold Saturday night. Sunday was mostly cloudy here but we had some Sun. I have a couple of pretty decent Thermometers here that both agree we got up to 50 degrees yesterday but it sure didn’t feel like it. Monday’s looking fair with wind swinging around to the East and then South. That South wind will usher in more Rain chances for Tuesday. Thursday looks wet also so we could have another wet week ahead. The very early prediction for the weekend looks Fair and warmer but that’s a long way off and we will have to see how all of that shapes up. There are more Thunder shower chances on Tuesday but no severe weather anticipated. As April rolls in on Wednesday we have to start watching for a more active Thunderstorm Season. The Storm Chasers out in Tornado Alley are gearing up for what they hope will be a busy season. Some of their business works it’s way East into Tennessee so we need to be on top of our game until things ease up some in June. Now for today’s facts.

Sunday morning we reported .27″ of rain. That was two days in a row with the same total so I hope they believe me at the NWS. We had no rain in the last 24 hours.
Temperature at 7 AM is a Cold 29 degrees. We will take a while to get there but I am hoping for 68 degrees this afternoon. Clouds will help us maintain 45 tonight. Tuesday looks like 65 or so.

Barometer is 30.10″ and rising. Saturday at 6:15 PM during the brief Hail episode we had a pressure reading of 29.55″. When it’s that low you are literally in the hand of God. It does not take much Wind shear to spin up a Tornado in a atmospheric pressure that Low. Back in 2005 when The Center of Circulation from Hurricane Katrina passed by to the West of here the pressure was only slightly lower at 29.45″ as best I can recall. We are on the rise today but looking for a fall tonight.

Humidity is 95% this morning. We have a light Frost as the result of a Clear 29 degree night. Still looking for the current damp spell to continue.

Wind is Calm this morning but Shifting East and finally south. Speeds of about 5 mph today but a little bit more gusty on Tuesday.

Sky is mostly Clear this morning so enjoy it while it last. Clouds return later and maybe Cloudy most of the day on Tuesday.

The Summary for today is Fair and slightly warmer at 68 degrees. Increasing Clouds tonight with rain and Thunder shower chances on Tuesday. We can usually expect this Cool and then Warm Mix and a good deal of damp weather until Easter, but in a couple of weeks Spring will fully reveal itself. Have a good day.
