4/30/2009 @ 7 AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

The last morning of April 2009 dawns cloudy and with threatening rain showers scattered about but no general rain coverage again today. We had just a couple of periods of sprinkles yesterday and it all only stacked up to .01″ in the rain gauge. We have rain chances for today in the 40% range but that’s just a number you have to throw out there for the folks who have to have a number. Some of us will get a shower and some will not. You have to look out your window and decide for yourself what’s going on in your neck of the woods. Weather patterns of this sort are common to this area. The Barometer is continuing to fall ever so slowly and the really rough weather is still well to the West on the plains. Most of the showers this morning are lingering off to our West and Northwest so I think we will remain dry enough here in the Southern Region to knock off a few chores before too much of the day gets away from us. At some point the weather to our West will manage to drag it’s self in here and dump some rain on our lawns and fields, and it’s looking like that may be for our weekend. Now let’s look at he facts so we can get along with our day.

We reported .01″ of rain from numerous rounds of sprinkles yesterday.
Temperature at 7 AM is 66 degrees owing to the clouds that kept our temp up a bit over night. Look for 80 today when we get some occasional breaks in the clouds and see some Sun. Low tonight in the mid 60’s and another 80 on Friday.

Barometer is 30.15″ and falling ever so slowly. We are watching the old Barometer for a more accelerated drop that might indicate a more general and heavier Rain chance but so far the High pressure to our East is holding off the heavier rain.

Humidity this morning is 70%. About the same as yesterday and it drops some after the warm up but averaging in the 50% zone during the day. We have gradually gained a little moisture in our atmosphere but the High Barometer is holding off the real wet stuff.

Wind is South at 8 mph this morning. The Wind is the one factor that is indicating that we are in for a change. After several days of 5 to 10 mph we are seeing speeds pick up and maybe gusty today in the 15 or 20 mph zone. Maybe even stronger wind later today.

The Sky is again mostly cloudy. Look for more Clouds today but still some rounds of sun.

The Summary for today is Cloudy and scattered rain showers. Some Sun as well. Today is dreary but not a washout. High about 80 and Low about 65 tonight. We are gradually seeing better chances for Rain but you can still get out today because it will be more dry than wet for one more day at least. Have a good day.
