7/2/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Tomorrow on July 3 we begin a period of time often referred to as “Dog Days”. This is the 40 days between July 3 and August 11 that are the hottest and most sultry of the Summer season. Traditionally the dogs just lay around in the shade and try to stay cool. Our little girl “Missy” has found a way to beat the heat in a more 21st Century style. We aren’t as hot as we were last week but the next couple of days I think 89 degrees and 70 degree Dew Points will certainly qualify as Dog Days conditions. We have some shower chances in the 20% range and I don’t want to rain out any kids Baseball games our your cookout but we are in bad need of some rain here in Northwest Bedford County. We wound are way around the usual trekking path this morning careful not to fall into the cracks and the wildlife scene has apparently got the Summer doldrums this morning. But the biggest part of the activity this time of year is happening around 5 AM when the Sun is coming up. The weather scene could could pickup this weekend as a Front will be likely approaching this weekend and bringing some good shower chances and I’m afraid some Strong Thunder Storms could be around Saturday and Sunday. The Barometer is 29.95″ and Rising. We may top 30″ today for the first time All Summer. Now let’s look at the facts.

We did not have any precipitation to report for the last 24 hours.
The temperature at 7 AM is 71 degrees after a 60 degree over night Low. Headed to 88 or 89 today and then down to about 62 tonight. We are gradually warming up over the next few days.

The Barometer is 29.95″ and rising. It’s about time we saw some movement. We will Rise hopefully today and part of Friday in advance of a Strong Cool Front that the guru’s think has a good chance of coming in over the weekend.

Humidity is 75% this morning. That’s trending up over the next few days. Dew Points are headed back into the 70’s.

Wind is Calm early then 10 to 20 out of the Northwest. A Southerly shift on Saturday is expected.

Sky is Fair with a few clouds this morning. Look for a buildup this afternoon.

The Summary for today. Sunny and then Clouds and Sun. Shower chances this afternoon. High of 89. Get your 4th of July Plans in order. Have a good one.
