7/3/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Cool and comfortable outside this morning. That’s a rare thing in July but this year has been full of surprises. The past couple of Lower Humidity days will be soon behind us however and today will be the last one for awhile. Saturday the 4th of July will usher in a wind shift to the Southwest at some point and the Humidity and Dew Point will rise on a moist Southerly breeze. Today will not have much if any in the way of shower chances but Saturday those chances rise and then peak at about 50% on Sunday. Some of those showers over the weekend could be Severe so keep a eye out. I don’t expect we will have any real long periods of wet weather so carry on with your plans and just build a little flexibility into your schedule. Temperature wise expect about 88 today and 90 on Saturday. By Sunday we will have a lot of clouds and likely drop into the mid 80’s. It’s only right that it would be 90 degrees on the 4th of July. We are entering a period of several weeks where our “Normal” High temperature’s run 88 at the NWS in Old Hickory, Tennessee and in the Southern Region about 90 is normal through the 1st week of August. That’s not to bad if you get some rain but it will burn up your Garden and Lawn if you don’t. The outdoor trek this morning was full of Bunny Rabbit ambushes. We went past my wife’s Van and out jumped a Rabbit. Went a few more steps and passed my Truck and out jumped another Rabbit. Went down the drive a bit and out from under the second Van jumped 2 Rabbits. They all scampered off towards the woods. At least it was bunnies and not Skunks. I don’t want to have to deal with that. But the Bunny Rabbit population is all most out of control here. Now let’s look at the facts.

We have not got any Rain to report.
Temperature at 7 AM was 69 degrees after a over night Low of 57. That’s 8 degrees below normal for the 1st week of July. We are headed to 88 or so today and that is just about dead on normal. Not as cool tonight however and look for a solid 90 degrees on Saturday.

The Barometer is UP to 30.05″ today. It’s about time we had a little High pressure but I’m afraid it will not rise much more and should Fall a bit on Saturday.

Humidity is 85% in the Cool of the morning. This will be a Lower Humidity day again but that will be on the upswing tomorrow.

Wind is Calm this morning but will be North at 5 mph. Not as breezy today. Watching for a Shift on Saturday.

Sky is Clear this morning but look for some clouds during the day. More clouds on Saturday with Rain chances. But still a lot of Sunshine as well.

The Summary for today. Sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 62. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm. And finally. Independence Day: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunder storms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming south southwest between 5 and 10 mph. Have a great day.
