7/16/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

The woes of the Mid West over the last few days have descended onto Tennessee today. We had a round of late night Thunder and some Rain. Folks to our West got a lot while we here in Bedford County had to settle for .29″. We stand to get a good deal more today. That puts the July total here to 3.53 so far. After a rough dry spell in late June and early July we could be setting up for a wet July to balance things out. The Corn crop needs the rain but the wind has been rough on some of it. The Beans and the Grass are doing well now. The Lawns are back in the Green and while some of the new young grass that we were filling in a few bare spots didn’t make it so well there is time for that to recover. My Bell is ringing in with a Hazardous Weather Update so lets put that up now.

750 AM CDT THU JUL 16 2009 THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE..DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TODAY AS A SLOW MOVING FRONTAL SYSTEM PUSHES TOWARD THE AREA. A FEW THUNDERSTORMS MAY BECOME SEVERE. ALSO…THUNDERSTORMS MAY CAUSE FLOODING OVER THE AREA DUE TO THE SLOW MOVING FRONT AND THE PREVIOUS SATURATING RAINFALL..DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE ON FRIDAY AS A FRONTAL SYSTEM MOVES THROUGH THE AREA. SOME THUNDERSTORMS MAY HAVE STRONG GUSTY WINDS OR SMALL HAIL. THE PROBABILITY OF WIDESPREAD HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS LOW..SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE REQUIRED TODAY OR TONIGHT.

So it will appear that we have a break in the July heat and as usual when we get Rain we get a lot of it. The extremes are becoming the rule instead of the exception. The outdoors are wet and everybody seems to be hunkered down for more rough weather today. We do have the usual convention of a few Bunny Rabbits but that’s about it. The doggies didn’t like all the Thunder last night and were not to happy about or interested in taking any kind of trek in the wet grass. They seem to realize more weather is on the way. I have a good deal of Lightening Static on my old AM Radio this morning. Now lets look at the facts.

We reported .29″ of Rain for the 24 hour hour period ended this morning.
Temperature is 71 degrees at 7AM and likely only headed to 85 or so today with the Clouds and Rain. Low tonight about 70 degrees with more Rain.

Barometer is 30.05″ and Falling a bit. The pressure may fall some more later today before a expected Rise on Friday afternoon and over the weekend.

Humidity is 95% and not burning off much since we have a lot of Clouds. Plenty of moisture on tap for today.

Wind is currently Calm but will be Variable and Breezy at times today. Trending mostly South and West but North when some of the Storms are near.

Sky is Mostly Cloudy this morning and look for a lot of Clouds today and tonight.

The Summary for Today. Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming variable around 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Tonight a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest. Chance of precipitation is 70%. So there it is once again. The threats today are primarily Heavy Rain and Lightening. We need the Rain so hang in there, the weekend still looks good.
