7/31/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Some folks around the Western half of Middle Tennessee had some Flooding Rains and even some Severe Weather including a possible Tornado, however we here in Bedford County just had a Cloudy day with some Mild Temperatures and a light Rain Shower that deposited a mere .07″ of Rain in the old Rain Gauge. My old Granny would have said those Storms must have “Went Around and Missed Us”. The truth is as the area of heavy Rain approached the Interstate 65 Line they lifted to the North and all we got was some light Rain. We have however got a total to date of 4.82 inches with 16 plus hours of July to go. It’s looks like we are dry for the rest of the day, barring a pop up storm this afternoon. The weekend is still a bit iffy as we see some Rain chances on the increase Saturday night. The wet weather may stretch into August. It’s plenty damp outside and the wildlife is scarce on the last day of July. August usually has a increase in the Tropical action on the Atlantic side and looking at the Ocean Temperature off shore from Pensacola Florida I see only 83 degrees. By the end of August that water may be near 90 degrees and that’s when we usually see some action. Now as the Sun is peeking out from behind the Clouds this morning let’s look at the facts.

We reported only .07″ of Rain for the last 24 hours. Some folks 60 miles to our West had close to 2 inches.
Temperature at 7 AM is 70 degrees. Looking for 88 degrees with more Sun today and a Low of 68 or so tonight.

Barometer is up to 30.00″ and Steady now. No big moves today.

Humidity is 85% as the Sun is drying off the Grass. Still we will be a bit muggy today and the Humidity is hanging on to give us rain chances on Saturday.

Wind is West today at 2 mph this morning. Look for a generally Southwest wind on Saturday.

Sky is Mostly Cloudy but clearing some. A mix of sun and Clouds today.

The summary for today. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is less than 20%. Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 68. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly cloudy, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming west southwest between 5 and 10 mph. Today looks like it may be Sunny after all. But things can change from hour to hour so make the most out of what you get. Have a good one.
