8/1/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

July has come and…..gone. Time is flying by this year for sure. We started out July dry and dusty and concerned with whether or not we were going to have a early burn out this year. That quickly changed. We ended up with 4.82″ for the month plus several days with Trace amounts. For the most part Temperatures were below the “Normal” mark and we had some significantly Cooler nights. The typical “High Pressure Area” that normally sets up in the Atlantic near the Island of Bermuda just has not happened this year. Consequently we have had several “Cold Fronts” pass through the Southeast that usually would not make it this far South in the Summer time. Bermuda, which is where my wife was born and raised, is experiencing a Hotter and Drier Summer and is being influenced by what they call the Bermuda/Azores High. There is no end to the variables in weather around the World but it’s safe to say that most of the North Hemisphere is having unusual weather this Summer. This morning on the 1st day of August we had Fog. There is local folk lore that says you can get a indication of how much Snow you will have during the Winter by the number of Foggy mornings in August. So we have 1 Snow event to look forward to. The Morning is turning Sunny as the Fog is burning off. Today will see some Thunder Shower chances develop this afternoon and even more likely tonight. Shower chances on Sunday also but still Fair amounts of Sun on both days. Highs in the mid to upper 80’s and Lows in the Upper 60’s. Now lets look at the facts and Summary for the weekend.

We did not report any rain for the last 24 hours.
Temperature at 7AM was 68 degrees. That is warming quickly to about 88 for today’s High. Low tonight of about 68. More or less the same for Sunday.

Barometer is 30.10″ and Rising. Hoping for some stable pressure for part of the weekend. Likely to take another Dip tonight however.

Humidity is 95% with Fog this morning. We will see a burn off but the Humidity and Dew Points will remain High today.

Wind is Calm early but will be generally Southwest at 5 mph over the weekend.

Sky is Clear above the Fog but Clouds will be on the increase today and tonight. Some Sunny weather by Monday.

The Summary for the weekend. Today: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph. Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 68. South southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 86. West southwest wind around 5 mph. That’s about it. Keep a eye out for over night Storms tonight. Looking for you in Church on Sunday. Have a great Summer weekend.
