8/17/2009 @ 7 AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Wow, what a difference a couple of days can make. We have a lot going on this morning and I took a little bit of time to get a handle on all of it. We saw yesterday morning a batch of disturbed weather over the Northern Gulf of Mexico rather suddenly blossom into a Tropical Storm. That came ashore this morning near Fort Walton, Florida (our getaway spot by the way) and is mostly just dropping a lot of rain and some mildly gusty wind. We can expect that to drift towards Tennessee today and bring us Clouds and some much better Thunder Shower chances, but not likely any Severe Weather. Meanwhile a Frontal system to our North and West is closing in as well with some associated showers. I put the Mower away for a couple of days. The Sky was mostly clear this morning early but the high thin clouds are increasing. We may only see 90 for the High due to more Clouds but increasing Humidity will make it feel warmer. The next couple of days may see us get several bouts of rain. We could now use a little so maybe we will be spared a deluge….Meanwhile Tropical Storm Ana is fizzling out for now as it skirts Haiti and the Dominican Republic and Cuba, but we think she bares watching because after Cuba if she holds together she could make it into the Gulf of Mexico and regain some strength. Hurricane Bill is well out in the Atlantic and looks to curve North and maybe threaten Bermuda. We got a lot of family there as well so we have to keep them updated for later this week. Unlike some folks we know the people in Bermuda know how to prepare for a Hurricane. We didn’t venture out to far this morning because Missy is a little bit under the weather. She is not feeling well and certainly not herself. She has a fever and is just wanting to sleep. She may get to the Vet’s office today. But hopefully she just has a virus. Now let’s look at the facts.

We have not recorded any Rainfall for the last 48 hours.
Temperature at 7 AM was 72 degrees. Look for about 89 or 90 today and a Low of about 70 overnight with some genuine Tropical air.

Barometer was 30.20″ this morning. That’s about as strong as it gets here lately. That will fall as the Tropical Depression remnants of Claudette come closer.

Humidity is 85% and will remain a factor for a couple of days as a good deal of Tropical moisture is going to be just to our West.

Wind is South at 3 mph at 7 AM. We can expect 5 to 10 mph today and a bit of a breeze overnight as well. But certainly no real Storm winds from Claudette.

Sky is Fair but Clouds are increasing. Look for a lot of Clouds later today and tonight.

The Summary for today. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 89. South wind between 5 and 10 mph. Tonight a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind around 5 mph. Tuesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind between 5 and 10 mph. Things could be interesting for a few days and late August in general is frequently active. So keep a eye on things and have a good day.
