8/18/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

We have a big dose of what was Tropical Storm Claudette parked just about 50 miles due South of our location here in Bedford County this morning. Mostly just Low Clouds and mist and a gentle breeze now, however as the Sun warms the atmosphere some Showers and Thunder Storms will evolve during the next 12 hours or so. The whole deal is slowly drifting North and then Northeast but it will take a while to clear out. Before we can return to Sunny Summertime there is a Front to our West that has to bring us some wet weather as well. The good news is maybe by the weekend we can get this junk out of here. So far we only have had .40″ of Rain but that came in a Squall that blew up quickly yesterday just after lunch and we had a brief period of 25 mph wind as well. We might see that again today. Nothing really in the way of Severe Weather and in fact we still have 30.15″ of Barometric Pressure so the former Tropical Low is really weak. It wasn’t much even when it came in at Fort Walton……Meanwhile out at Sea the remnants of Ana are lingering over Cuba but we still have our eye on that. Out beyond the Antilles Hurricane Bill is a Cat 2 at 100 mph and still heading more or less towards Bermuda. The water temperatures in the Gulf have dropped a couple of degrees since Ana came ashore but that can rebound quickly this time of year…..On the home front my little dog Missy is feeling more like her self today after having a couple of sick days. We took her new Flea Collar off and the feeling is that may have been the problem. She doesn’t have fleas anyway but I’ll just have to watch out for those pesky Ticks. The Spider on the front deck is still faithfully spinning his web every evening and taking it down by morning. I ran the weed eater around the Deck on Saturday and was wondering if I might cause him some bodily harm but apparently he was sufficiently buried away to be safe. Amazing after all I’ve experienced in this life that I would be concerned for the life of a Spider. I think with age you gain more respect for Life of all kinds. Now lets get to the facts.

We reported .40″ of Rain in the last 24 hours. Expecting more today.
Temperature at 7 AM was 71 degrees. Look for 85 or so with all these Clouds. Tonight only down to 69 or so. Maybe a tad warmer on Wednesday depending on the Clouds.

Barometer is 30.15″ and steady. That’s strong considering all the weather we are experiencing. That pressure may however show some signs of falling today.

Humidity is 95% and we are well in the grips of a good deal of Tropical Humidity today and tonight.

Wind is SE at 3 mph. Look for 5 to 10 mph today and this evening. Some stronger wind in some of the Showers.

Sky is most decidedly Overcast today. Some occasional breaks but not much Sun today.

The Summary. Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. South southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Tonight: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. South southwest wind around 5 mph. Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming south between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. That’s our story for today. This kind of weather is not unusual for August. In years past with the drought we had in 07 we would have been ticked to death for some Tropical Rains. No outdoor chores today. Have a good one.
