8/20/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

You don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to know we are going to have Rain today. The Satellite Picture shows a huge mass of already Towering Storms off to the immediate West of Tennessee. As the Sun heats up those Cells will only get stronger. We may have a few hours before the bottom falls out but not much longer than that. We once again yesterday had a small amount of Rain, .13″. We have had a bit everyday this week but I think we stand to get considerably more today. Still on the plus side the weekend looks good and the first of next week may well be dry so at some point we will get back to normal August activity….Out in the Atlantic Hurricane Bill has weakened from a Cat 4 to a Cat 3 due to some Shear activity but is likely going to return to a 4 Status at some point. Still bearing Northwest but still expected to turn North. Everybody from Virginia to New York better pray it does, those folks could be dodging a real Killer. Looking better all the time for Bermuda but I wouldn’t expect they will be swimming at Horse Shoe Bay for a few days….We have had several days of extremely high Humidity and even with good Air Conditioning the dampness is more like Ocean Side than down in the country in Tennessee. It will all be clearing out behind the Front that is still fairly well out West but should get through here on Friday. Now lets look at the facts.

We reported .13″ of Rain for the last 24 hours. Expecting a lot more today.
Temperature at 7 AM is a warmish 73 degrees. Look for no more than 88 today with a lot of Clouds. Low tonight of 69 or 70.

Barometer is 29.95″ and Falling in advance of a Strong Cold Front. Pressure will be extremely unstable for the next 24 hours.

Humidity is still 95% and averaging at near 90% throughout the Day. These Humidity levels along with the Low Pressure will likely result in Tropical Downpours today. More like Monsoon conditions.

Wind is generally Southerly at 5 to 10 mph, but stronger in and near the Storms.

Sky is Partly Cloudy but quickly Clouding up and we should see little Sun today.

The Summary, Today: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. South southwest wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with heavy rain. Low around 69. South southwest wind between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.Friday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 85. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest. Chance of precipitation is 30%….The NWS is advising the public to monitor the NOAA weather Radio today and I fully agree with them. No outdoor chores again today. Batten down the Hatches and have as good a day as you can.
