8/24/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

After a wet and Cloudy 5 days last week we are needing some Sunny and dry weather. We have several of those scheduled for this week. Slightly below normal temperatures in the day time and some really cool nights as well. Those cool nights are not totally unusual for late August however. I remember well working at the Horse Show as a youngster and how cool it was some evenings as I worked at the Ticket Gate pushing the pedal on a even then very old manual operated pedal turnstile. I had to depress a pedal to allow people to enter after the ticket guy took their tickets. One push for every person. That was how the turnstile counted the people. We had I believe only 4 gates back then and it was during the heyday of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration. The Show had just expanded to 10 nights then and gas was cheap. We had huge crowds back in those days and with just 4 gates the turnstile pedal guy job was a young mans job with a strong leg. I met some famous people. I even met Governor Buford Ellington, twice. He was a really nice guy, but most of the Politicians I met back then were usually pretty tipsy even before they got to their Box Seats. Weather wise we have a pretty peaceful week. The Horse Show starts Wednesday so look for some Shower chances to be creeping back in but we have several really good days to catch up on the outdoors stuff. Now let’s look at the facts.

We did not report any rain for the last 48 hours.
The Temperature at 7 AM was 54 degrees after a Low of 51 during the night. Look for a High of about 84 and then down to the upper 50’s over night tonight. About 5 degrees warmer on Tuesday.

Barometer is 30.10″ and Rising. We hope to see that rise some more over the next few days. We should at the very least be stable for several days.

Humidity is 90% and dropping quickly in the Sun this morning. The air was really dry last night and the Stars were especially brilliant with a very milky Milky Way. Good stargazing weather for tonight as well.

Wind is Northwest at 2 mph this morning. Light winds today and by late Tuesday they will trend Southeast but still be light as we finally begin to warm up toward more seasonal temperatures.

Sky is Clear today and will be Sunny with only a few Fair Weather Clouds today.

The Summary. Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Tonight: Clear, with a low around 58. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 5 mph. Have a great start of the week. We have enough to do to be busy for a few days, sure glad I don’t have to pump that turnstile this year. LOL
