9/10/09 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

It’s looking like a Sunny morning but this afternoon we just have to play by ear. Some folks will have showers and storms and some folks will wonder what in the world we’re talking about. This current pattern is somewhat unpredictable. However, warm but not to hot days and cool evenings are nice so let’s just enjoy. The spotty afternoon showers are adding to our previously wetter than average Summer and the vegetation is still a healthy green. The Trees are reacting to the cooler nights in the 2nd half of August however and Fall is clearly fast approaching. This could be one of those years where you have to mow grass all the way to Thanksgiving. All is quite on the outdoors this morning but I’m sure that behind the tree line a lot of our furry friends are beginning to make plans for Fall and Winter….Those scattered showers this afternoon could be strong even though they are small in geographic size. Here’s a excerpt from the Weather Service briefing this morning…AFTERNOON ISOLATED TO SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP TODAY. WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS…EXPECT DANGEROUS CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING.SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD BE STRONG TO POSSIBLY SEVERE…WITH STRONG TO DAMAGING WINDS…HAIL…AND LOCALLY VERY HEAVY RAINFALL…ESPECIALLY WITH THE SLOWER MOVING THUNDERSTORMS….So try not to be a Human Lightening Rod. Now for the facts.

We did not report any Rain for the last 24 hours.
Temp at 7AM was 64 degrees. Looking for 88 for the High and 62 for tonight’s Low.

Barometer is 30.12″ and steady for the time being. No big moves expected for a couple of days.

Humidity is 90% and falling as we warm up. Still, even in the Heat the Dew Points are rather High and well into the 70 range. That is what is fueling the afternoon showers and storms.

Wind is East at 2 mph this morning. Direction is mostly Easterly but varies from Southeast to Northeast depending on where the Shower build ups are. 5 to 10 mph for the most part but stronger in the Storms.

Sky is partly cloudy this morning, but a good deal of cloudiness expected.

The Summary, Today: Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 88. South wind around 5 mph becoming east northeast. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Tonight: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 64. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Friday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%….So watch out for those pesky scattered storms today, enjoy this last few days of Summer and be thankful for all we have.
