9/17/2009 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Rain has been falling steadily since the early morning hours. Rain has been heavy at times with some Thunder. The Rain gauge had 1.17″ at 7 AM. We did have a shower Wednesday afternoon but the bulk of that fell early this morning. Today we have more Rain in the Forecast and even though we may see those chances diminish some by the weekend it’s looking like early next week before we have a shot at seeing the rain ending. With saturated ground the Flash Flood potential will be high in and around places that experience heavier showers. This has been a year of extremes and it’s not letting up. The Great Outdoors and the Puppy Dog Trail are under water here this morning so my doggies just did what they needed to do at the foot of the steps and came straight back inside. They are not too happy and are looking at me like it’s my fault. I’ll give them a extra treat and all will be forgotten. Until it’s time to go back outside. No Tropical Storms in the Atlantic Side but Dr. Carter reminded me of the Pacific Side where Tropical Storm “Marty” is wandering around. He doesn’t look all that impressive however. I’m not all that impressive either. Now lets look at the soggy facts.

We reported 1.17 inches of Rain to the CoCoRaHs group this morning.
Temp at 7AM was 68 degrees. Look for 79 for the High today and then down to 68 tonight.

Barometer is 29.80″ and Steady at the moment. No big moves today in the pressure. We are very unstable for next couple of days.

Humidity is indicating 97% but for all practical purposes it’s 100%. We will be nearly saturated for the next 36 hours.

Wind is East at 2 mph. Look for East to Southeast winds at 5 or 10 mph. We are in the grips of a Tropical Low but this one unlike most systems of this type does not have any significant Wind.

Sky is and will be Overcast.

The Summary, Today: Periods of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 79. Calm wind becoming east between 5 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Tonight: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 68. East southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. It’s just yucky outdoors today so be careful.
