1/6/2010 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Sunny and Cold with the landscape literally Freezer Burned overnight. High Today maybe makes 31 and then a Balmy 22 Low Tonight with Snow after Mid Night. The NWS Official estimate is 1 to 3 inches. The quantity of Snow is still uncertain. Wind and Blowing Snow will be a factor as well so travel will be dangerous whatever the amount. After the Snow another Blast of Artic Air will descend and by Friday night expect single digit Lows and maybe only High teens or near 20 degrees for the High on Saturday. Finally on Monday we get a break with a couple of 40 degree days. I warned you this Winter could be interesting but this is according to the Climate guys the most prolonged bitter Cold Spell in decades. We still have February and March so hang on. The great outdoors is barren and desolate this morning but my Redbird family is cleaning out the feeder. The ground is apparently devoid of scents and Missy quickly determined if she couldn’t smell anything she wasn’t interested. The Sun is helping but on the way back to the house I’m seeing the Wind shifting West to Southwest so the Change is beginning. The Brine will be on the Highway in a few hours and then the game is on late tonight. Now for the facts.

No precip. to report for the last 24 hours.
Temp.9 deg. but with the Sun rather quickly getting into the 20’s. Look for 31 by 2PM. Not as Cold tonight as the Clouds gather.

Bar.30.25″and still strong pressure but it will be falling by the afternoon. Looking for a sharp rise again behind the weather we have on Thursday.

Hum.80% and we had enough moisture to from some hard ice crystals on exposed surfaces last night. Moisture on the increase this evening. It will of course obviously be frozen.

Wind NW 2mph but trending West to Southwest and finally Southerly for a few hours on Thursday. Look for gusty winds on Thursday.

Sky Clear but Clouds are gathering.

The Summary, Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 31. North northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Tonight: A 30 percent chance of snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Calm wind. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Thursday: Snow. High near 34. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming west northwest. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Northwest wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

The Winter Storm Watch has been replaced with a Winter Weather Advisory. But that could change again. Nobody wants to commit themselves. Either way be prepared for some Snow.
