1/13/2010 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

A Cold start for our day but moderating temperatures are on the way. High in the low to mid 40’s today and 50 on Thursday. Cold but normally seasonal nights. Next Rain is expected beginning on Saturday. We should see a Southerly wind shift today once we get cranked up but not a lot of windspeed. The National Weather Service sent out a statement today advising of a “Pattern Change” in our current weather that mainly says a series of Wet weather systems is expected to pass over the Southern sections of the US from Arizona all the way to the Florida panhandle. Tennessee is going to be on the Northern fringe but can expect Rain for a few days beginning on Saturday and it looks like mild above normal temperatures for a change. Outdoors this morning we have a lot of Cold and frost covered ground. The birds are complaining that their feeder is clogged up so we have to get a scraper and go back and clean that up or we’ll never hear the end of it. We have a few days of mild weather so we got to tend to some chores and I guess get ready for a wet spell this weekend. Now for the facts.

No precip. for the previous 24 hours. If you factor out the Snow and Flurries January is starting out Dry.
Temp.12deg. and rising some with the Sun. Look for 45 or so today and lower 20’s tonight. A more noticeable warm up on Thursday as we get into more of a zonal flow from the West and South and less of the Polar air we’ve had for several weeks.

Bar.30.40″ and very strong pressure. Likely this has topped out but we will be stable for a few days.

Hum.85% and we’ve been damp over night and some folks have experienced freezing fog. It contributed to my bird feeder being gummed up. Upper level moisture will be slowly increasing over the next couple of days as heavy rain approaches and hopefully mostly tracks south of us.

Wind Calm but will be trending Southerly. Wind speeds will be very gentle today.

Sky Clear today and most of Thursday. Clouds begin building up by Friday.

The Summary, Today: Sunny, with a high near 46. Calm wind. Tonight: Clear, with a low around 24. Calm wind. Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 5 mph. Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Calm wind.

We have few Fair Days and a warm up for our mid January weather. We will watch the inbound weather and pray the heavy rains stay to our South.
