1/22/2010 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Cloudy and some light mist after a Rough evening yesterday. No funnel clouds or hail expected today but more storms possible Saturday evening. Rain ending this morning and cooler. Warming Saturday morning with a wind shift Southerly sets us up for more possible storms. Welcome to Winter in Tennessee. Our round of rough weather was more general than scattered as storms popped up quickly after the Sun broke through the clouds Thursday afternoon. At 5:45 PM the ground was covered with Pea Size Hail and reportedly a funnel cloud passed over Shelbyville. We have another round of warm air pushing in on Saturday morning so we have yet another possible storm event Saturday evening. Then more Seasonal air returns to the Mid State. It’s more and more common to have a round of severe weather in January and February so it’s always very interesting when we have 50 plus temperatures for several days in the Winter time. No signs of damage but I can guarantee you that hail is not good for your roof or your vehicles if they are outside. My old truck doesn’t seem to be damaged and we didn’t have any hail in Murfreesboro at the Clinic. But still I’m glad we paid our Insurance Premiums this month. This Winter which has been very active so far is only half over so hang on tight. And then comes Spring, and the real Storm threat. Now for the facts.

We only were able to report .18″ of Rain, but apparently Hail clogged up the Funnel on my gauge so the report is not accurate. After the hail melted I would estimate from the huge puddles we have around here that perhaps a half inch or more of precipitation fell yesterday.
Temp.47deg. and we will rise quickly to near 52 then fall back into the upper 40’s for the afternoon..

Bar.29.85″ and finally rising. It was really Low yesterday and we had the rough weather to show for it. Watch for a new dip on Saturday.

Hum.98% and will stay there.

Wind Calm but trending Northwest and THEN Southerly early Saturday and gusty on Saturday with possible 30 mph speeds.

Sky Overcast and likely very little Sun today.

The Summary, Today: A slight chance of drizzle before 9am. Cloudy, with a high near 53. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Tonight: Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 41. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph. Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. South southeast wind between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms. Low around 50. Windy, with a south wind 25 to 30 mph decreasing to between 15 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Watch out for Saturday as we have one more round to go. What a Winter we be having.
