1/25/2010 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

A gray chilly morning as Winter conditions return to Tennessee. High today only about 43 degrees with a brisk Cold West wind. A upper level system may drop Flurries tonight and a Low of 29. Colder Tuesday with some Sun. Wednesday will be the Sunny day this week but it’s going to be on the cool side. Thursday Rain may end up as Friday Snow but the jury is still out on that. Outdoors this morning the soggy ground and cold wind aren’t very inviting so we didn’t venture to far out. We are one month past Christmas today and this is truly the “Dead of Winter” in spite of our just past warm spell. We still have a lot of Cold weather ahead but Groundhog Day is only 8 days away. Traditionally you can start preparing for Spring after Groundhog day or at least anticipating Spring. Last Winter our “Big Snow” was on March 1 so until we get past that date we’ll not get too carried away. Now let’s look at the facts.

We reported .88″ of Rain on Sunday morning and .39″ this morning after a wet mild weekend.
Temp.36deg. with a cold wind it feels like 29 or so. Maybe a High of 43 to 45 depending on the Sun. Cold and 29 in town tonight and likely 25 here in the country. Tuesday we will not get out of the 30’s.

Bar.29.70″ and Rising behind a Frontal passage. A upper level trough passing over tonight will prevent a big rise but maybe Tuesday and Wednesday a little relief before a sharp drop at the end of the work week.

Hum.98% and maybe a strong breeze today can effect some drying. But the upper levels remain moist.

Wind W3 mph but will be stronger today and this evening. Speeds in the 10 to 20 mph range with stronger gusts.

Sky Overcast but with some breaks from time to time. More clouds this evening from a brief upper level system then partly Sunny on Tuesday.

The Summary, Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. West wind between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Tonight: Scattered flurries before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 29. West wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 37. West northwest wind between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

It’s looking like a cold week with some active weather starting Thursday so stay tuned for more. Have a good day.
