February Dawns Clear and Cold with a Blanket of Crusty Snow. The Wind shifts Southerly today and mid 40 High temps. will erase most of the Snow. Tonight Clouds and a brief possible episode of Rain or Snow then Clearing Tuesday. Tuesday will be clearing but maybe the Groundhog won’t see his shadow. Wednesday looks Sunny for the time being but Thursday Rain chances and night time Snow or Freezing Rain chances return. That freezing rain just keeps popping up in the forecast. We had 1/2 inch of ice on many of the tree limbs and power lines Saturday morning and there are numerous downed tree limbs and a few telephone lines. Just a few more hours Friday night and we would have lost power to a lot of homes. The Puppy Dog Trail this morning is losing it’s crust but still Snow covered. Hopefully the Sun and 40 degrees will clear that off but then comes the mud and muck. If we don’t have much precipitation tonight a couple of dry days with some Sun would be much appreciated. I saw a lot of tracks on the Snow this morning that don’t belong to any of our regular residents. I didn’t find any Raccoons in the Barn but I was gunning for them. My neighbor says he saw a couple of Coyotes Sunday morning. The pickings in the Woods may be getting slim as we transition into the latter part of Winter. I’m keeping my little Missy on her leash for now and Benji is always at my feet. Now for the facts.

We still have roughly 1 and a half inches of Snow on the ground but no further accumulation since Saturday.
Temp.18deg. but feels warmer with the Sun and reflection off the Snow. Look for mid 40’s today and about 32 tonight.

Bar.30.30″ and steady now. We had a nice ride up yesterday. A bump down this evening then back up for a couple of days.

Hum.90% and we have a lot of Ice laying around. Not much drying and the melting Snow will keep the relative humidity up today as well.

Wind Calm but trending Southerly.Very gentle speeds today. Our measuring instrument has been cleared of ice and we saw a gentle 1 mph a while ago but mostly calm now.

Sky Clear early but Clouds are slowly returning. Some places had Freezing Fog and we may have had some here as the Frost extends to surfaces that normally would have been protected.

The Summary, Today: Areas of freezing fog before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph. Tonight: A slight chance of rain before 10pm, then a slight chance of rain or freezing rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 20%.Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph.

We just came through the worst Winter Storm in several years. But don’t let your guard down we got February and at least half of March to get through. I don’t rely on the Groundhog all that much. We did consume most of what we stocked up on Thursday, except we still have our Emergency Propane which thankfully we didn’t need. More Snow may well be in the Forecast later in the week. It’s February and Anything Can and Does happen in February. Have a good day…..anyway.
