4/9/2010 @ 7AM in Bedford County, Tennessee

Sunny but Chilly this morning but we hit mid 60’s this afternoon. Cold and 30’s tonight and some low lying areas that are prone to Frost will get some. Sunny Saturday and 72 degrees however as Red bud Winter soon passes. We always have these cool spells and at the rate we are going I think the next one will be Dogwood Winter. Pollen is still flying that’s for sure. Outdoors today we had a nice trek and plenty of Sun to offset the cool temperature. The quarter inch of Rain has mostly dried up and the birds are singing away today. The Trees are well along on leafing out now and the Grass is thick. What a difference a month makes. Soon the tractors will be in the fields if we can continue to have these stretches of dry weather with only brief but sufficient rains. April can be a rainy month but at least the 1st half of it has been cooperative. Now for the facts.

We reported .02″ of Rain from the last effects of yesterdays rain event. No more expected for about a week.
Temperature at 7 AM was 39 degrees. Cool but not unseasonable. We rise quickly into the 50’s and by this afternoon mid 60’s in most places. Tonight in the 30’s with Frost advisories. But warmer for the rest of the weekend and well into next week as we get past Red bud Winter.

Barometer is 30.10″ and Rising. We can expect another couple of tenths rise and stable for several days of stable weather.

Humidity is 85% this morning but that’s going to be falling as we continue with drying conditions today. A more southerly flow later in the weekend will bring in some upper level moisture but not going to be a problem for several days.

Wind is Calm early but will be Northwest at 5 to10 later. A shift Southwest later on Saturday.

Sky is Clear today and we have maximum Sun for a few days.

The Summary, Today: Sunny, with a high near 67. West northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Tonight: Patchy frost after 4am. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 40. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Saturday: Patchy frost before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 43. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

A cool start but it’s still early Spring. The old guys around here are calling this one Red bud Winter. Have a great day.
